Want the Change
Words by Rainer Maria Rilke, English translation by Anita Barrows and Joanna Macy
Music by Kiersten Rose

Want the change
be inspired by the flame
where everything shines as it disappears.
The artist, when sketching,
loves nothing so much
as the curve of the body as it turns away.

Pour yourself out like a fountain
Flow into the knowledge that what you’re seeking
finishes often at the start,
and, with ending, begins.

What locks itself
in sameness has congealed.
Is it safer to be gray and numb?
What turns hard, becomes rigid
and is easily shattered.

Every happiness is the child of separation
it did not think it could survive.
And Daphne,    becoming a laurel,
dares you to become the wind.

Tangled
Words & Music by Kiersten Rose

Threads of my life woven to form
Images of grace
Now have become tattered and worn
Stitches out of place

I don’t know how they got this way
But I’m the only one to blame

I’m tangled, all tied up
I'm bound in self-sufficiency
I’m tangled, all tied up
Wound by insecurity
I’m tangled, I am tangled
Come undo me

My own freewill
Has fashioned a sling
And has me in distress
I look but don’t find
That one magic string
To unravel this mess

You set the captives free
Eliminate the ties that bind
Undo me
Liberate this strangled mind

Hurry Home
by Kiersten Rose

When the coffee’s brewing, I start reviewing
all the things you whispered in my ear by the fire
Please hurry home
so we can talk all through the night

When Sinatra’s playing, I start swaying
wishing you were here to hold me close in your arms
Please hurry home
so we can dance all through the night

Early in the morning
when you go off to save the day
I get awfully lonely
how I hate when you’re away

When the bread is baking, I start making
recipes for you and me to put in the pan
Please hurry home, so we can cook all through the night

Please hurry baby, let’s make it quite a night.

Sweet Redemption
Music by Kiersten Rose, Words by Karen Michel

All of the warring is overI find my soul is stripped bare
At this late stage I am only a shell
of who I should be

My heart has been invaded
Leaving behind only grief
Neverless, all that’s been stolen from me
is not my undoing

Now I stand in the midst of Your beauty
With tear-filled eyes, I take in Your love
The sights, the sounds, I feel Your sweet redemption

Desperate for true liberation
Weary from trying so hard
My heart no longer held captive
I choose to embrace Your freedom

Now I stand in the midst of Your beauty
With tear-filled eyes, I take in Your love
I raise my hands in praise of sweet redemption.

You Gave Me Hope
by Kiersten Rose

Nobody knows me like you do,
You knew when I needed a “talking-to.”
You taught me to trust my inner voice
when others said “don’t listen.”
You love my kids like you love your own,
we’ve talked for hours on the phone.
A better friend I’ll never find in this life.

Like water that soaks into the ground,
you gave new life to me.
Like children when Christmas gifts are found,
you taught me to believe.
When I was numb, completely undone,
you gave me hope when I had none.

I’ve heard that there’s no place like home,
and even now that I am grown
you welcomed me back with open arms
without second guessing.
You put a roof above my head,
and with your love my soul was fed.
You gave me room to spread my wings and just be.

You have a love that’s really deep,
it shows in the way you move and speak.
I’ve seen you trading tender looks
and flirting in the kitchen.
Living your days with no regret,
treating the dying with respect,
proving true love’s not make believe.

Heaven Knows
Words & Music by Kiersten Rose

This longing, kept buried
beneath numbing vices
awakens from time to time
It pulls like a magnet
and begs me to listen
telling me there’s
so much more to feel

I hunger for something
I find so elusive
a starburst just out of reach
It shines with such brilliance
and beckons attention
I am a cave bird
drawn to the sky

Heaven’s the granter of all expectations
Heaven’s the filler of all unmet dreams
Heaven’s the mender of all broken places
 and heaven knows, my heart.

I’ve listened to sages
who tell me the answer
is hidden inside their lies
But I don’t belong here,
I’m a traveling stranger
Help me resist these counterfeit charms.

Chorus

Like tension in melody that never resolves
leaving me hoping for more

Be My Voice
by Kiersten Rose

Do you see me?
I know I look a little strange.
Maybe God allowed it,
but it wasn’t quite my plan.
Do you hear me?
I’m tired of rejection
I want to have someone to hold me
and love me as I am.

“Life’s not fair” is an understatement.
It seems the cards that I’ve been dealt
are the losing ones again.

Be my voice
Defend my cause when you get the chance
Look behind these lonely eyes
and believe I’m worth the fight
Be my voice
I need someone to understand
Take me in and offer me a chance to mend
Be my voice

Do you see me?
I’m not who you think I am.
Underneath this rainbow skin
is a broken-battered soul.
Do you hear me?
Listen past the angry cries,
to hear the sorrow of a thousand
years of crushing shame

You say your God can heal the sick,
You say your God can raise the dead,
Give me just one reason to believe
you’ll be different from the rest.

Bloom
by Kiersten Rose

I gave him a flower from my garden
and he threw it away.  "I'm sorry" he said.
So I gave him another, trusting in his goodness
never to do it again.

Up from the worn out soil grew more flowers
and soon they were found, he trampled them down.
Growing twisted and gnarled, dwarfed by his pruning
struggling to stay alive.

So I put up a fence, planted a hedge
I have no reason to fear anymore.
I soak up the sun, drink in the rain,
more beautiful than I have ever been.

I've been so patient, I know I'm not perfect.
My Father says I am worthy of more.
He tells me He loves when I wear my true colors,
That's when I make Him smile.

I'll Meet You There
Written by Kiersten Rose and Karen Michel

I’ll meet you there
when you call at 2 AM and need a friend
someone to share your pain.
I’ll meet you there
In those places of fear shame or weakness
where you hide your heart.

I’ll meet you in prayer
Approaching the throne together
Hearts laid bare, hands lifted high.
Or face to the ground
tears flowing down
I’ll meet you there.

I’ll meet you there
walking together on life’s journey
with the sweet taste of victory
I’ll be there
when the bitterness of failure
takes your very breath away

Chorus

I’ll meet you
and walk with you
I’ll be your friend
I’ll meet you there

Looped
Music by Kiersten Rose
Words by William Butler Yeats

He whispered, am I too young
or am I old enough
and then he threw out a penny
to find out if he might go and love her,
though she’s young and frail.

O - oh, penny
brown, brown penny.
He is looped in the loops of her hair.
O - oh, penny
brown, brown penny.
Tell him one can’t begin it too soon.

Oh love is a crooked thing.
There’s no one wise enough
to find all that’s in it.
We’ll be looking for it
till the stars have run away
and the shadows have eaten the moon.

Make a wish, toss it up
over your shoulder.
Heads or tails, say a prayer
for what could be.
Make a wish,
toss it over your shoulder.
Say a prayer and just believe.
